First edition, first printing hardcover copy of Confrontations: A Scientist’s Search for Alien Contact by Jacques Vallee (Ballantine Books, 1990). True first edition of this paranormal / supernatural book looking into a wide variety of accounts of alien contact, UFO sightings and extraterrestrial activity. With illustrations and photographs. Jacket now protected in new (removable) archival sleeve but with some rubbing/scuffing to faces and shelf wear around the edges - including chipping and creasing. Liquid damage causing staining to bottom edge of jacket near spine. Same liquid damage to cloth board wrap near base of spine as well. Corners bumped. Dents and small tears to top edge of boards and jacket. Small split in front hinge, but spine is fairly straight and binding remains strong on the whole. Som soiling to outer edges of text block and heavy underlining and margin notes throughout. See photos for condition.
